If you know me, you also know I believe in miracles.
They’re a wonderful reminder of how magical life can be.
But life is mostly filled with moments that are completely mundane.
So ordinary they usually fade into the background of routine, habits, chores and thoughts.
This doesn’t mean that days of the week that end in ‘y’ are any less special than those take-your-breath-away moments. (Check out this short, fun video to help you notice all of your miracles)
You see, the treasures of life aren’t always wrapped up in glittery paper with choirs of angels singing, cymbals crashing, or a rainbow kissing your forehead.
It’s made up of a warm blanket, the perfect pillow or cosy bed.
It’s waking up in the morning with another day to explore this planet as a human being.
It’s clear running water, a tasty meal, electricity or a screen like the one you’re looking at right now.
It’s a hug from a loved one, a kiss from a furry angel, the sweet sound of your car starting up first time on a cold morning.
It’s _________________ (fill in the blank with whatever seems routine, normal or every day for you.)
I’m guilty of forgetting that just being here on this planet is a wonder.
(Btw, how on earth does an infinite being squeeze into a teeny tiny, finite human body anyway?!)
Can you imagine what it might have been like before you were born, observing all these cute humans, enthralled by all they get to do here, beyond excited for when you could do it too?
Perhaps you had thoughts that went something like this…..
- No way! I get to feel what it feels like to be swaddled in a blanket, held and cooed over just because it’s me?
- I can’t wait to feel smell sweet flowers, saltwater breezes, bonfire smoke, freshly mown grass and hot coffee!
- I see how much they like to dive bomb in pools, splash in puddles, soak in tubs or walk by the seashore and I’m super curious as to how that feels.
- I’ll get to play in this creative, messy, colourful, noisy, vibrant planet and listen to or play music, explore books, make friends, feel left out, lose a tooth, learn to love and feel a “broken” heart,
- What? I get to taste sweet fruits, freshly baked bread and chocolate….chocolate! (Ok, I realise we all have different tastes, but chocolate ranks way up there for most folks, right?)
You get my drift:-)
When we’re out of the body, at one with everything and in full awareness, the paradox is how tricky it can be to experience what is to feel separate, finite and operating through the limitations of the physical.
Unless, of course, we create the illusion of all of that.
And so we come here to explore, experience and evolve into our next level of understanding through all the events, relationships and things that may seem ordinary now that the newness has faded.
But they are no less fabulous, amazing or brilliant.
Here’s a short, sweet and fun video that reminded me of everyday miracles.
It’s message is as universal as the many different ways to celebrate the season of light around the world, whether you call it Christmas, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or anything else.
I’m so grateful I get to do the extraordinary ordinary things that are easy to take for granted, including what I do with you and others through my business.
Years ago if someone had told me what I’d be doing with a beautiful community around the world, I’d have been awestruck or thought they were bonkers.
But here I am, getting to do something I love with wonderful souls who are looking to expand their awareness, access wisdom, enjoy their birthrights to well-being, joy and prosperity and come from their highest selves more often than not so they can love life and let life love them right back.
So while I’ve become comfortable with what I do now, it’s not “ordinary” but an extraordinary ordinary.
And I don’t take you for granted.
Thank you for being a part of my extraordinary.
Who or what has become part of your miraculous “ordinary”?
And how can you appreciate them today?
May you appreciate your extraordinary too!
Love,
Alicia
P.S. Some of my favourite films to remember the magic of life are “About Time”, “The Adjustment Bureau”, “Mary Poppins” (can’t wait for Mary Poppins Returns!”) and “It’s a Wonderful Life!”. What are yours?
